Additional Technical Information:
Kew Technology's Sustainable Energy Centre (SEC) has managed the engineering, procurement and design (EPC) of a 'first of its kind' commercial scale 1.5 MWe Advanced Thermal Conversion waste to energy facility in the UK in partnership with the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) following unprecedented due diligence from the Lenders' Technical Advisors. The ETI is a joint public and private partnership between the energy and engineering firms Rolls-Royce, BP, Shell, Caterpillar, EDF and the UK government. The conversion technology demonstration plant is currently in the final stages of construction in Wednesbury in the West Midlands. This SEC will convert ~13,000 tonnes p.a. of waste feedstocks such as Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) and Grade A to C demolition wood into heat and power.

Kew Technology are open to discussing research collaboration opportunities to improve the value proposition of advanced waste gasification technologies. Research themes which may be interest include the utilisation of syngas for the efficient production of advanced renewable fuels via Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis, reducing the energy demand of the gasification and clean-up systems and improving the separation efficiency during waste feedstock processing. Kew Technology has a suite of equipment modules available, including a high pressure gasifier and tar cracking system and would be interested to hear from energy companies and research institutions for future projects.
